Parents and teachers are very concerned on the future generations, and the quality of writing that they will be producing in school. Because of the common use of slang words, they are increasingly being recognized by the wrest of the world. This may result in slang not being a concern for the future generations. To make this possible a three step plan (long-term), has to be made.
The first step to achieve this plan is to create a board of both teachers and IM expertise to come up with a way of making the students that use instant messaging abide by certain rules and regulations, for teenagers to keep in mind while instant messaging. The second step will be, placing a spectator to ensure that the teenagers are abiding by the rules. The third step to the plan is to see if the students work is still affected after a period of time (at least 5 years); the plan has to be setup and very closely speculated to get accurate results.
This solution contributes to a better society because it is advantages for all three groups, parents, teachers and students. The students will be able to continue instant messaging, and the use of slang words in the students work will decrease. This will improve the student’s grades and please the parents.
Teenagers prefer instant messaging (IM) to the traditional telephone to communicate with friends and strangers. With a quick and easy way to keep in touch, nearly half of online teens believe that the Internet has improved their friendships. The growing amount of social networks, such as Yahoo, MSN and AOL, will keep developing and attracting more people into the drastically growing technology. Instant messaging is free and with no time limit, More than one in three IM users say they use it every day. Because of the increase use of IM by teenagers and adults businesses are moving slowly to incorporate security technologies that drastically reduce IM risks like spyware, virus infiltration, phishing and data compromise.
Parents and teachers object on the language and grammar used by teenagers in IM. Because Instant messages are typed so fast that users don't slow down to capitalize, add periods and commas, or spell out words. As a result, new word abbreviations and IM slang are being invented faster than a high-speed Internet modem. Instant messaging is not always a friendship builder. Teachers get upset when Internet slang and emoticons (smiley faces made with punctuation marks) show up in kids' writing. Words that have tripped up young writers, including "its" and "it's" now have been joined by "u," "r" and "wuz" on teachers' hit lists.
With the negative affect that IM is causing the young generation, parents and teachers are very concerned on the future generations, and the writing that they will be producing in school. Instant messaging also resulted in slang words such as 'Chelsea tractor', a British slang term for a gas-guzzling SUV, to be added in to the 6th edition of the Oxford English Dictionary. Because of the common use of slang words, they are increasingly being recognized by the wrest of the world. Which may result in slang not being a concern for the future generations?
According to a 2006 study by comScore, which measures Internet usage, half of the online population uses IM. The major IM utilities use a proprietary protocol that is not understood by other instant-messaging services. This creates a safer environment for people chatting on MSN. The client sends the server the connection information (IP address and number of the port assigned to the client) of the computer you are using. Because your client has the IP address and port number for the computer of the person that you sent the message to, your message is sent directly to the client on that person's computer. All communication is directly between the two clients. But it is also important to note that instant messaging is not considered a secure way to communicate. Messages and connection information are maintained on servers controlled by the provider of your IM utility. Most utilities do provide a certain level of encryption, but they are not so secure that you should send any confidential information through the system. Finally, the server deletes the temporary file that contained the connection information for your client. In the client’s contacts lists that are online, your name moves to the offline status section.
IM technology is constantly changing. New features are rolled out so frequently that a summary like this is almost outdated before it’s posted! MSN has integrated IM service with e-mail service, so users can receive e-mail notifications while instant messaging. Many providers also allow users to IM and file-share from their cell phones and mobile devices, allowing access to their services any place, any time. The next big thing (future plan) could also be location-aware IMing, in which services pinpoint users’ locations and allow them to communicate with people who are IMing in their areas. While IM technology is changing for the better, there will be an increase in the number of users because more peoples’ needs will be achieved through instant messaging.
This profile addresses the delicate issue of how Instant messaging is affecting the young students language. Given the diversions offered by Web surfing and messaging, and the ephemeral subject matter of much Internet writing, many of those literary encounters are superficial at best. An example of this issue in society is when students, whose social life can rely as much these days on text communication as spoken word, say that they use instant-messaging shorthand without thinking about it.
The IT system involved with this issue is when students use MSN messenger to chat, while using other applications such as Microsoft word to type their school work. With the slang use of words on MSN messenger, students language starts to adapt to the abbreviation they use such as the number 2, instead of spelling it out (two). This IT system is important to society because it is a very fast and efficient way of communication, for long periods of time.
Society is affected by this IT in positive and negative ways. A positive social or ethical effect related to the IT system is that it allows the people from around the world to easily communicate for free. A negative social effect relates to the IT system is that it’s being over used, and it affects the students use of language. Students will gradually forget the proper use of the English language and more slang word will gradually be added to the dictionary. Bling, a slang word usually used in internet talk was recently added into the dictionary.

C- The Impact of the issue
Teenagers prefer instant messaging (IM) to the traditional telephone to communicate with friends and strangers. Criteria A
This profile addresses the delicate issue of how Instant messaging is affecting the young students language. Given the diversions offered by Web surfing and messaging, and the ephemeral subject matter of much Internet writing, many of those literary encounters are superficial at best (Iyengar; Bauerlein, 2007). An example of this issue in society is when students, whose social life can rely as much these days on text communication as spoken word, say that they use instant-messaging shorthand without thinking about it (Jennifer, 2005).
The IT system involved with this issue is when students use MSN mmessenger to chat, while using other aplications such as microsoft word to type their school work. With the slang use of words on MSN messenger, students language starts to adapt to the abbreviation they use such as the number 2, instead of spelling it out (two). This IT system is important to society because it is a very fast and efficient way of communication, for long periods of time.

A negative social effect relates to the IT system is that it’s being over used, and it affects the students use of language. Students will gradually forget the proper use of the English language and more slang word will gradually be added to the dictionary. Bling, a slang word usually used in internet talk was recently added into the dictionary.
